Recently underwent surgery at Lincoln Hospital and I truly cannot say a single bad thing about the whole experience. From biopsies to surgery, everything went really well. Great, communicative staff that explained everything perfectly. Everyone was super nice, waiting times weren’t bad at all. The doctors and nurses were amazing and did a great job.

We attended A&E with our 2 year old granddaughter - the children’s doctor was marvellous. She spent time getting to win her over and used every method not to stress or make her anxious - the doctor discovered our grandchild had tonsillitis which several doctors appointments had missed. It was a huge relief to get her treated with a high temperature.

I’m honestly heartbroken and deeply frustrated by the service I received at Lincoln Teaching Hospital. What should have been a place of care and compassion turned into one of the most stressful and exhausting experiences I’ve ever had.

The waiting times were absolutely unacceptable — hours upon hours with no proper updates, no reassurance, and barely any communication. Sitting there, feeling unwell and anxious, watching time drag on while no one seemed to care — it was incredibly disheartening.

The staff themselves seemed kind but completely overwhelmed, rushing from one patient to another without the support they clearly need. It was painful to see how disorganized and uncoordinated everything felt. For a major teaching hospital, I expected far better standards and at least some empathy for the people waiting in distress.

By the time I was finally seen, I was beyond exhausted and emotionally drained. No one should have to go through that kind of ordeal just to receive basic medical attention.

This experience left me feeling ignored, helpless, and deeply disappointed. I truly hope the hospital’s management takes a hard look at what’s happening here — patients deserve to be treated with dignity, communication, and compassion.

Dreadful. My father was taken to A&E with an infection and delirium, he has dementia. He was in a corridor for hours in front of a constantly opening door for hours. Nobody updated us and he was scared and cold. He was moved to a huge ā€˜holding’ area and we were there for 13hours before he was discharged. The nurse coordinator on the desk was vile. He refused to get in the car, he was off his legs and narrowly missed slipping between the wheelchair and the car. He was initially denied transport back to his care home. Is this any way to treat a sick, vulnerable old man with dementia? He had no idea what was happening. You make me sick.

This was the worst experience of my life, and that too related to a health matter. Nobody even bothered to come and ask me anything, and after waiting for 4 hours, when my pain increased, I had to gather whatever little energy I had left just to return home without any doctor’s checkup. The staff was just sitting there for the sake of saying ā€œno.ā€ At that time, the pain in my foot’s big toe had gotten so bad that I couldn’t even walk properly. The worsening of this pain was only because the staff at Lincoln Hospital’s A&E department made me wait for 4 hours without reason. If it were up to me, I would give them 0 stars—if that option existed.

One of the worst A&E departments i’ve ever been to! Not even complaining about the wait times but some of the staff are incredibly rude and degrading. We got talked down to by nurses and the doctor. Waited 6 hours, took 4 tries to get a doctor to give pain medication and he came back with paracetamol (the patient was sobbing in pain by this point). Barely any nurses going around the waiting room asking if people are okay, we watched an elderly lady literally die because the staff kept walking past her thinking she was asleep. Relatives of patients also got told they couldn’t sit in the waiting room with the patient and had to stand outside…at 1am. Overall, dismissive staff (not all but most) and very poor standard of care for those waiting.

My husband was taken in due to a blood test he had had showing his kidney function was very low, he was moved from pillar to post, one ward being filthy, the chair arms were absolutely disgusting, every doctor told us different things. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer after nearly 3 weeks, the Respect form (his wishes) was filled out in his absence, without the questions being asked. He was then called back for an Oncology appointment, which was a complete waste of time, we were just told what we already knew, no empathy at all. My husband now refuses to go back to LCH.

I wish to thank Dr Kelvin Kong, Consultant Stroke Physician and his secretary Shiono (sorry for spelling). Our first consultation with him was very good and informative. He listened and explained to us, nothing was too much trouble. Everything he said he would do was done very quickly. His secretary kept us informed all the way with telephone calls before letters were received. I can’t express how much we appreciated this. Well done NHS
