I just moved to the Aberystwyth area and registered here. The reception, doctors, and nurses are all so lovely and both appointments I've had so far have been on time. Easy to call in and book to see someone too. Definitely recommend as a patient!

I've been registered with this surgery since I was a child, and it's been going down hill for a long time. Probably more so in recent years. They have some good doctors (or at least used to), but also some very bad ones. On one recent occasion, a doctor made me feel like an idiot for starting (sensible) weight training, and was being very pessimistic about my health for no reason. On another occasion, a different doctor thought it was appropriate to notify me of the fact I have osteoarthritis via SMS text message, and to self-refer for physiotherapy, and that's all. I know of a number of other people who have had similarly negative experiences, including my mother who was a nurse in the NHS for most of her career.

Update: I've since received more text messages. One of them said I had been "booked" to have some blood tests but "it seems" I didn't attend. I didn't, because that was the first I'd heard of it and still don't know why they wanted me to have them.

Another was them wanting to update my "smoking status" by replying with a number. This message was longer than the one informing me I have osteoarthritis.

Another was from the surgery manager asking me to contact them, probably because of this review.

I didn't respond to any of them because they clearly could not care less about my wellbeing and see it purely as a box-ticking exercise and an inconvenience. I'd switch surgeries but recent experiences have destroyed my faith in the NHS.

I really like this GP but they need to be more organized, especially when it comes to the prescriptions management - no idea how it happened, but today while collecting in the pharmacy I was informed that my prescription is not there but it should have been sent to them two days ago and after calling the surgery they said that they lost my prescription and I had to wait for the doctor to rewrite it. Everything else - their accessibility and staff are great and I can really recommend this surgery!

I'd avoid like the plague. Can't even get prescriptions correct. Not once but three times in a row with a two week gap in-between so long enough to be able to get right the next time.. time to change.
Patient care seems to have been forgotten since covid hit. And it's keep patients out and phone calls are preferred but some things can not be done over the phone. Yes there are some lively staff who go above and beyond to help you out. But sadly not everyone has that capability...
Seriously avoid joining if you want to keep your sanity..

Have been a patient for 6 months now,
I had to call twice for different issues, both times I got through the line calling the practice quickly and was connected with exceptional secretary staff! Really friendly, upbeat and professional.
All inquiries were handled swiftly and the medical staff make sure to answer all questions.

Faultless service; Lived all over the country and haven't had a more positive service from the GP, to the general staff, to getting my prescriptions sorted. Couldn't be happier! 10/10

Having lived all over the world this is absolutely the worst surgery I have ever been to - although my repeat meds were on their records, I could not get a repeat for thyroxine via a phone consultation despite the fact that it is essential that I take it every day. The doctor I spoke to was intentionally unhelpful - the type that likes to be in charge - he should not be a doctor! My understanding of a doctor is someone who tries their best to help and not make life more difficult just because he can. The other doctors I saw there were not much better - there should be a sign over their entrance saying "Smiles and kindness not to be expected"
I changed to Padarn Surgery - they have some great doctors but getting an appointment is difficult, especially if you ask for a particular doctor. However, at least they are friendly and try to help.
