Sadly my mental health has declined to a point I am having suicidal thoughts - but I have been told by the ‘gatekeeper’ to talking therapies that I can’t have any support. Amazingly tho I had two sessions with an unsympathetic, unempathetic, and unfriendly woman who decided I do not deserve any help or support - oh she did suggest art therapy….as much use as a chocolate teapot. I can’t use the phone anymore - and because of physical illness I can only do mornings….she didnt like that I have restrictions in my availability, and has suggested I get a private therapist? Oh yes, I’ve got so much money I can go private - not!! Ridiculous suggestion.

If could give these zero stars then I would. May 24/04/24 my twin sister took her life. Train death. Obviously life altering for the family. Didn't hear anything from turning point initially. Wanted to point out at her inquest that the health care system completely failed her. Considering she'd had a long battle with abuse, drug addiction, anxiety and depression. And often times she was denied much if any help with this. Only judgements. All services you can think of apparently considerabley concerned for her well being yet undeniable did Jack s... To help. Was all on us family. Ultimately this wasn't enough. 3 full days of begging and 3 full nights every service you can think of to prove my sister was in dire need of help she was just completely refused it because by this point my sister was in full blown crisis and couldn't differentiate reality from delusion and thought every one in the was trying to harm her/end her life. I have 3 bin bags full of evidence from my sister herself documenting this because she thought it would prove how they killed her but obviously it just shows the gravity of her illness. What strikes me with turning point is how she had on multiple occasions expressed severe attempts at self harm, even noting how she walked many times along the tracks (the very same ones) with the intention not to come back, yet because as she declined she scored one point higher on well being questionaire (still classed as high risk) no one did anything at all to make sure she wasn't just left. The thing that hurts the most is that I initially called and emailed turning point after her passing to ask for their help in proving she didn't just wake up one day and decide it was time to go that she had in fact been battling for a long time and struggled to receive the right help. Knowing through our relationship she'd expressed this many times to the device and they would have it all documented. The liers promised me they'd do all the could to help. Did they? Of course not. The only thing they did was send some one who was never even involved in my sisters care (2 top managers or something) to the inquest to insist and down play there own failings and short comings with my sister and obviously to see how bad they really looked. No apologies or personal awknowledgement for Charlottes passing. Just the same old s h 1 t e. It was a suicide and we had no part because ultimately she chose to do it. Almost 2 years on. I will never forgive this service for the life long pain and suffering my family now suffer and for the suffering my sister had to go through from beginning to end without any professional really actually giving a damn about her. It's all just a pay check. No one cares any more. Waste of a service.

I was discharged because I opted for phone appointments rather than in person a couple of times and then cancelled one appointment. After waiting 7 months to see anyone in the first place. I wonder what sort of mental health training these ‘therapists’ have if they can’t understand the weight of depression and anxiety and how it can make appointments difficult for people. I have read the cancellation policy and I did not breach this. What good would this do anyone with mental health issues? I really don’t consider these people to be mental health professionals what so ever.

Turning Point was my first experience of talking therapy, and left me feeling even more dejected and confused as a very distressed teen.

To be told, (by the therapist!) as someone who was later diagnosed with anxiety and put on anti-anxiety meds, that "you don't look anxious at all to me" was utterly ridiculous! Isn't that the whole point of mental illness - that people can hide it well?!

The therapist also kept constantly comparing my life experiences to his and telling me that he'd been through "real trauma" - looking back now I realise how completely unprofessional and downright degrading this was. He basically recommended me to "keep busy" and help out more with household chores to take my mind off feeling "worried".

Did this do anything for my anxiety?
Nope.

Did this leave me struggling even more for years before I'd finally hit breaking point and get the diagnosis and care I needed?
Yes.

Absolutely terrible service. I really hope things have changed in recent years since I was referred here.

Absolute waste of charity funding, I Contacted them with the recommendation from my gp. Talking therapies said they would contact me after our first 30mins of chatting waffles. Then email you out of the blue and tell you they have tried contacting you on a number of times, not at all.... another mental health service making you feel worse.? stay away.

Recommending a cup of tea and a bubble bath is not therapy. If anything this service has made me more frustrated as I built up the courage to seek help and the therapy sessions consisted of telling me to get some exercise when most days I can barley bring myself to get out of bed.

I used the phone service for talking therapy and was pleasantly surprised at the ease of the service. I spoke to two people, one for referral and my therapist and couldn't fault them. I would urge people to reach out if they need to and see if this helps.
