We approached TR as we were nearing retirement age with children fleeing the nest to explore the next phase of our relationship together. We found our therapist to be warm, engaging, and appropriately challenging at times when we got a bit stuck. She allowed us an opportunity to explore so many aspects of our relationship that we had perhaps taken for granted enabling us to become aware of some hidden assumptions we’d been making for years.
All in all, this time for reflection has given us the skills and tools we need to embark on this exciting time in our lives and in some respects has allowed us to see some facets of each other that we had not previously seen or at least had incorrectly made assumptions about. Can we out a price on that? Well worth it in terms of emotional energy and cost.

I am in a long term happy relationship and over the last 30 years have known at times we needed some outside help when things get stuck. We had previously had two positive experiences of couple therapy but had a sense that we needed a more skilled therapist able to work with us in more depth. After looking locally a friend suggested TR as their therapist training us so rigorous and we could see someone online, so no need to travel to London. The sessions were incredibly helpful. Initially I thought not a lot was happening but we held our faith in the therapists skills and have both hugely benefited; as a couple, in how we communicate, and as individuals. We had weekly sessions for just over a year, including a spell when we were away for 4 months sailing. The sessions have set us on a new even more emotionally healthy stage of our relationship as we move towards semi retirement.

Terrible experience and an absolute waste of money. My partner and I after many months of conversing, finally decided to get couples counselling. The Tavistock centre was recommended to my partner.

The session was 75 minutes out of which the initial 15 minutes were consumed by the therapist (J), interrogating us for not having completed a questionnaire. She kept interrogating despite my informing her that her introduction to the session was making me anxious. Frustratingly after making such an ordeal about the relevance of the questionnaire, she never once referred to the information I had completed on the form, during the session.

She then spent most of the session advising us why couples therapy won't work for us, only to then waste the last 10 minutes of the session with a sales pitch on why we need more sessions with her. We left feeling worse than when we entered and would most certainly not take any further sessions with Tavistock relationships.

Tavistock Relationships is an excellent professional organisation. i have always been impressed with their courses and speakers. Recently I presented a seminar, and the support from everyone in the team was very good. They have very high standards and live up to them.

I have attended a number of TR Together's CPD events on topics as diverse as love, fatherhood, the menopause, neurodiversity and clinical impasse. As an integrative psychotherapist, I appreciate the psychodynamic lens applied to the learning, while speakers also incorporate contemporary perspectives, such as the impact of intersectionality. There's always space for questions and discussion during each event, and I'm often left with a renewed sense of inspiration for my work.

I recently attended a seminar organised by TR with Orna Guralnik and her colleagues from the group supervison featured in the excellent TV Series Couple Therapy. It was an excellent learning opportunity. The facilitator from TR did a really good job at managing the process, keeping the time and supporting questions. I will definitely attend another when I can.

As a current trustee of Tavistock Relationships, I have been lucky enough to get to know many of the amazing members of staff who work for the organisation. The therapists are incredibly committed to their work, ensuring that they give the best possible service. They not only provide top quality couples therapy, but are also peerless in their training and research. I could not recommend their services more highly.

It was many years ago I tried to pursue couples counselling. It was likely far too late in the day for the marriage, and for sure, not all relationships should be kept going, especially when there are signs of emotional coercion and control. It has taken me some years to realise this, it's a shame a professional in the field of couples therapy didn't see it. Wouldn't recommend
