When I first approached Mel, I had allowed a few negatives to creep into my everyday life and they were starting to create a bit of a spiral involving my mental health, general fitness and eating/drinking patterns. I just wanted to set those out, lose a little excess weight, and get back to top performance.

I take part in a lot of adventure sports including endurance and fitness events such as cycling, military style races running in boots with a 45lb bergen, and Spartan obstacle course races. I had a goal weight in mind, but getting fitter and stronger and feeling good about myself were the main goals.

I still struggles now and again with my mental health but keeping to my routine of training, steps, good sleep and good nutrition, all help make that side of things easier to manage.

Melanie has now got me to the point where I can run a marathon, carrying a hell of a lot of weight, with virtually no specific training for the race. If that isn’t enough of an advert for the difference her coaching can make, then nothing is!

One of the things that makes Melanie stand out, is that unlike a lot of personal trainers, she doesn’t just give you a gym-based training plan, and some generic nutrition plan, and leave it at that. Instead, she looks at every aspect of your train and nutrition, looks in detail at your actual health, including blood analysis, sleep patterns and stress levels, and works out the most productive and healthy way for you to reach your goals.

Once she has a plan in place for you, she supports you along the way, monitoring progress weekly, keeping an eye on all aspects of your life that might be impacting you, and helping you overcome any obstacles. This is all done in a very positive and supportive way, and not a telling off for failing achieving what you wanted to.

I got in touch with Mel as I wanted to lose some weight for my wedding. Not only was she brilliant in helping me achieve this, she taught me ways of thinking about what I eat and different exercises to do, what muscle groups to work and also any aftercare I needed to do.
Although it’s been a while since me and Mel had our journey together, I haven’t forgotten what she taught me for weight loss.
She kept me on track with everything and checked in almost everyday with me, I would definitely recommend her if you ever need a decent personal trainer.

I’ve listened to a lot of people speak about menopause and women’s health and lifestyles, and Mel is by far the best! Hugely passionate about helping people live their best lives, really engaging and animated to listen to and an all round lovely person!! I also attend Mel’s weekly online exercise classes which are always very motivating and fun to do and have really improved my fitness. She’s just brilliant!!

Mel did a talk for us about Menopuase for our yearly well being day at work. The talk went down so well with everyone listening and there were lots of questions asked throughout. Mel is so knowledgeable on this subject and her bubbly, confident personality comes across so well and engages the audience throughout. If you want help to achieve long lasting changes then Mel is just the ticket.

As a female in that mid 40 age bracket (perimenopause) phase and steadily gaining the weight. Slimming world had, previously, helped me to not gain weight but it was not helping me in any other facet of my health. Fatigue, lack of muscle tone, poor sleep etc. I decided now with my boys being older I had time to invest in me.

I had joined Mel’s online stretch classes at the end of Lock-down (recommended by my bestie) and knew how amazingly approachable, welcoming and adaptable her classes were to suit our varied ages and abilities. So i took the plunge.

I have been with Mel for over a year and the difference it has made to me is significant. Yes I’m trimmer and I am very happy with my weight. However, it is the muscle tone; the fact I can now complete a 10k in less than an hour; sleep is so much better and my general health and wellbeing has vastly improved.

I complete all my programs at home. I do have the advantage of a small gym machine and a very old treadmill in my garage. Mel does spend many an hour working out how to adapt things for my archaic equipment. If you don’t have these, don’t worry, some free weights, bands etc can easily be adapted. My current prog are all exercises I can do in my living room… it’s too cold in the garage.

I have a weekly check in and any feedback is always positive and progressive. If you start to slip Mel will steer you back on track or help you to identify underlying issues that might be sabotaging your development.

I send lots of vids of my exercises (my typical week is 2 x 45 minute weight programs) so that Mel can give me advice on technique and posture. In a clear and simple way for improving on it next time. If I need to switch things around Mel is always happy to accommodate.

Also, I can join any stretch class live or ask for any links to complete in my own time. Generally I try and complete a run a week. Recently raising funds for Alzheimer’s UK by running 50 miles in 30 days. Something I never thought I’d achieve 6 months ago.

So in a nutshell. If you want to prioritise you for a change… I cannot suggest a better person to have alongside you. With advice about nutrition, menopause, sleep, wellbeing and exercise. Mel will make a difference long term.
