Honestly the best hospital I have ever been to!

I’ve used the maternity, a&e and the paediatrics and all are wonderful.
A couple of nights ago, I brought my 5 week old baby into A&E as his temperature was very high, within 10 minutes we were seen by nurse David - who is absolutely incredible! We were then seen by a doctor who did a check over and decided to take us to the paediatric unit where we stayed for 2 nights.

My baby boy is home now and I cannot explain how thankful I am for our nhs and every single staff member that we encountered with. I cannot remember everyone’s name on the Paediatric ward 1 however I would like to say a HUGE thank you to nurse Chelsie as she was absolutely fantastic with her help. All of the staff were amazing and showed so much care and concern for my little one. The checks were every 2 hours on the dot and I felt so comfortable with saying anything I needed to.

Thank you so much to A&E and Ward 1. You’re all truly life savers!

Routine blood test - now done here rather than the Doc, (although I still had to go to the Doc to collect my blood form) Not convenient at all! 20 - 30 minutes drive depending on traffic, thank goodness I dont have to use busses. Hardly any parking I had to wait for someone to leave. Quite a long walk (in the pouring rain) to the unit. I was early so had to wait outside as you can't check in until 15 minutes before your apt. I always allow plenty of time because traffic and parking are bad. Once in it was fine. But then had to find a payment machine to pay for parking. £2:50 for the privalege of being inconvenienced! Glad to get home. No, I do not like the new system! 😡

All doing there best with the limited funds provided. Sent in by the Docs after suspected DVT to SDEC and the care was nothing short of superb. Both Asian doctors were courteous and professional and the two nurses were lovely. Naomi in SDEC gets a special mention 🙂 Yes it can take time to get through the queue but take a deep breath and then on the other side it is a well run hospital that we are lucky to have. Don't let that millionaire Farage take this off us as it's one of the best free services we have in this country.

I have always had a service from burton hospital. I went to physio today and the two physiotherapists Chris and Kush were wonderful. Every thing was explain in plain English, they did use an abbreviation and I thought it was serious. Did have a giggle about it. Thank you both for helping me and explaining to me what I was doing wrong. Thank you.

Recently had a colonoscopy at this hospital, the endoscopy department were fantastic. A little wait time however it’s standard. I cannot fault them, always checking in and ensuring I had everything I needed. The nurses here really do like their jobs and it’s refreshing to see. Thank you Queen’s!

I went to a and e last night as my glucose levels were 19.2 (diabetes) I am type 2 diabetic and it was not coming down not even with insulin. Got to the hospital and the reception were great and seemed very worried, got me straight through to the triage nurse who was the kindest most lovely lady of staff I have ever met!! I am from Coventry and trust me you won't find one very often. My levels went down to a manageable level so was allowed to go and that was that and I will follow up with GP but I wanted to give this hospital a good review as they honestly gave me some faith back x

Date & Time: 23/09/2025 – Night

I’m really disappointed with the care I received at Queen’s Hospital Burton A&E.

When I first arrived, I was in severe abdominal pain. At reception, the staff seemed disengaged, almost like I was forcing them to ask the questions. When I was sent to wait for triage, things only got worse. I started vomiting and was in excruciating pain. A healthcare support worker, a nurse, and even the nurse in charge saw me struggling but completely ignored me, even as I was calling out for help. Honestly, other patients and their families showed more care and compassion than the staff did.

I was left for nearly two hours until a kind lady, who didn’t even work there, went up to the staff and insisted that they do something because I was clearly getting very unwell. Only then did they act.

But the way they handled me was far from professional. I was close to passing out, and instead of helping me properly or getting a wheelchair, the HCSW just said “come on, get up” and dragged me to triage. Inside, I gave all my answers, but my observations showed I was very unwell high respiratory rate and elevated heart rate. The nurse in charge brushed it off, saying I was “just hyperventilating” and “having a panic attack” and told me I wasn’t urgent.

When it came to blood tests, the HCSW tried to take my blood but couldn’t manage it and seemed to have a really bad attitude about it, which made me wonder why she even works in this role. The nurse in charge then stepped in and did it, but both were clearly impatient with me, even though I was twitching from the pain.

Overall, I felt ignored, dismissed, and treated without basic compassion. It was only thanks to another patient’s family member stepping in that I was finally seen. That should never happen in a hospital.

I left feeling upset, let down, and with far less trust in this hospital’s emergency department than when I arrived.

Had to take someone to A&E this evening was a surprised when we turned up to find the A&E waiting room in the old blood test area the room was so small that fitting 60 people was so cramed in there it was really hot and stuffy and it's a good place to go home with something else that you don't want.
Turned up at 8pm and didn't leave until 01.20am the next day the person I was with had sustained a head injury was assessed waited over an hour to be assessed again after waiting well over an hour was told he was going to have a ct scan then was collected with 3 other people taken to another area waited another 3 hours to be told they didn't meet the criteria? Here are some paper instructions now go home brilliant some lady discgard her child as couldn't wait any longer it's getting worse not better. This is not the first time of having a bad experience at this A&E.
Well had to go back to A&E managed to get him a ct scan and guess what he has a small brain bleed they have now put him on a ward for truma orthopedic !!!!
