We felt very welcomed and comfortable here. Our daughter had a positive experience, was helped to feel at ease, and after feeling anxious before going in actually quite enjoyed the experience I think. We were very relaxed while waiting in the lounge with comfy sofas and coffee machine. Everybody was very warm and kind. The follow up online meeting also went very well and we soon felt at ease talking with Daniela who was lovely. Thank you so much to everyone at Psicon.

Brilliant service. Waited 4 years for my son to be assessed with another service and would have still been waiting now. This service has giving my son the diagnosis that we’ve waited so long to get and will hopefully now help with moving forward with school can’t thank you enough. Quick easy and very reassuring nice staff who made my son feel at ease.

We had travelled down from Nottingham, which was a very long journey. On arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome from the receptionist. The building had a very calm atmosphere, the waiting area had low lighting, and comfy chairs with sensory items, this helped in making my daughter feel relaxed. She was greeted by the staff and taken for her assessment. The whole experience was very professional and informative. Following on from this was a consultation with Dr obe Ani, meeting her she was so warm and welcoming which put us at ease straight away, everything was so professionally done i felt heard and my daughter opened up about her struggle and worries. Dr obe Ani answered all our concerns and gave us the knowledge to move forward on our journey. I can't thankyou engough for making the experience a very positive one, showing care and compassion towards my daughter really did help.

Very wonderful service to gain insight on a child's diagnosis for ADHD that was greatly affecting her entire life. Staff and doctors were incredibly understanding and supportive of us (not dismissive at all). Highly recommend.

Psicon is a clinic offering autism and ADHD assessments, but based on my experience, there are areas where their approach could be improved. One of the key concerns was the lack of consistency between the process outlined before the assessment and what actually took place. The clinic initially stated that a lifelong contact would be interviewed, two assessors would be involved, and there would be a discussion at the end to reach a conclusion. However, on the day, only one assessor was present, and the external perspective of a lifelong contact was not sought. This raises concerns about the thoroughness of the assessment, as lifelong context is often crucial in understanding how autism presents over time, especially in adults.

Another issue was the assessor’s emphasis on whether the individual’s life was ā€˜disordered’ rather than whether they met the criteria for autism. While assessing the impact of a condition is important, this approach risked overlooking key challenges faced by adults who have learned to mask their difficulties over time. For example, people who have consciously avoided career progression, struggle with social relationships, or experience significant anxiety may still be autistic, even if they appear to be functioning well outwardly. A focus solely on perceived ā€˜success’ rather than the effort and strain behind it can result in valid experiences being dismissed.

Additionally, the assessment appeared to rely heavily on the presence of certain traits, such as compulsive behaviours, while downplaying other well-documented aspects of autism, such as social difficulties or anxiety. This narrow interpretation of diagnostic criteria may leave some individuals without the recognition and support they need. A diagnosis can be key to accessing workplace accommodations, reducing anxiety, and improving quality of life—yet the approach taken seemed to judge whether a diagnosis was ā€˜deserved’ rather than whether it was clinically valid.

For an assessment process to be effective, it should be thorough, transparent, and aligned with current understanding of autism in adults. Ensuring that assessments follow the process initially communicated, incorporating broader perspectives, and recognising the diverse ways autism can present would greatly improve the experience for individuals seeking clarity about their neurodivergence.

Compassionate and caring service. Felt heard and listened to during appointment, where was able to learn about my new condition as autistic. Comprehensive assessment too.

However, it was a long waiting time. Had to wait more than a year from when first was referred to the service.

Worth it in the end, but for me to bear in mind that have to be patient with them.

Very flexible in changing appointment dates close to the time and it was a very relaxed atmosphere on arrival.

I’ve had an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience with Psicon, and I wouldn’t recommend their services.

It started when they lost my sister’s report, which she had already completed, delaying my own assessment unnecessarily. When I finally had my appointment, I felt the doctor I saw could have had more empathy in my appointment and I felt he spoke to me in a condescending manner, as if I were a child in school rather than an adult seeking professional support. It made the entire experience uncomfortable and disheartening.

After the assessment, we had to chase them multiple times just to receive a phone call and to actually get my diagnosis. When I finally did, I was told they would contact me after the Christmas period to discuss potential therapy or medication options. That never happened.

The lack of communication, care, and professionalism throughout this process has been beyond disappointing. ADHD assessments are an important step for many people in understanding themselves and getting the right support and unfortunately this wasn't the case.

Everyone who we had contact with from psicon where amazing and friendly. We felt listened to and respected at every step of step of the assessment process. We were well informed of each step and always asked if we had any questions. Psicon have made what is an important but stressful journey to diagnosis a little bit more easier
Highly recommend
