I had a double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction in February this year under the expert care of Dr. James Harvey, and I honestly couldn’t be more grateful or happy with the entire experience. As a BRCA2 gene carrier, the decision to have surgery was not taken lightly, but from the very first consultation, Dr. Harvey made me feel informed, supported, and completely at ease.

With a two year wait expected on the NHS waitlist, I made the decision to proceed with Dr. Harvey privately. Dr Harvey made it very clear that the care would be exactly the same which ever route I chose, just the time frame would be shorter. I never felt any pressure from him to choose the private route.

His professionalism, kindness, and calm confidence reassured me every step of the way. He explained everything clearly and answered every question with patience and compassion. The process was incredibly well-organised, and I always felt I was in the best possible hands.

The surgery went smoothly, and I am absolutely thrilled with the results. Dr. Harvey’s skill as a surgeon is truly remarkable — the outcome has exceeded my expectations both physically and emotionally. I feel like myself again, and even stronger for having gone through this journey.

From start to finish, the care I received was outstanding. I can’t thank Dr. Harvey enough for helping me through such a life-changing decision with so much empathy and expertise. I would recommend him without hesitation to anyone facing a similar path.

Having received a sudden shock breast cancer diagnosis I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been looked after by Mr Harvey and his team. Very thorough but equally very straight and direct explaining everything clearly and all options every step with complete compassion. I am now 2 weeks post bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction and I am recovering very well. My diagnostic tests and surgery were arranged extremely quickly which helped to keep my head straight and I cannot thank Mr Harvey and his wider team enough for their wonderful care. I would like to make a special mention to Millie ( a lovely calming anchor and reassurance in the midst of all the planning and worry about the procedure ) , Donna ( the awesome and patient anaesthetist ) who reassured me despite my terrible needle phobia, and the wonderfully caring and compassionate breast nurses Janet & Donn. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Harvey, his approach at such a stressful time has been a huge comfort to both me and my partner, he immediately instilled confidence that he could sort my situation out. It was also always apparent that Mr Harvey was mindful of my mental well being as well as my physical situation. I am delighted with my reconstruction and again I have Mr Harvey and his professional skill to thank for that. If you are looking for a down to earth approach from a highly skilled professional consultant who really cares, Mr Harvey is your man.
