My family and I have attended this family owned and ran bakery in the heart of Wolverhampton multiple times and have been very happy with the food and service on each occasion. The food may be more expensive than your other cafe or bakeries, but the quality is there too as justification. TMB in Codsall is usually very busy, I hear, but the one in Wolverhampton city centre usually has places to sit. This is a great place to go if you are looking to treat yourself - the cakes are great, but I can't speak for the savoury menu as I've not tried that yet! Would recommend visiting if you are ever in Wolverhampton.

I chose Medicine Bakery Saturday breakfast , and honestly, I left disappointed.

My boyfriend ordered the bacon sandwich, which turned out to be just two slices of bread with cold, dry bacon inside. The bread itself was tasty, but paying £6 for a dry bacon sandwich with nothing else? If we wanted to eat plain bread, we could have bought a loaf at home for a fraction of the price.

I had the avocado toast for £13, and the portion was underwhelming. There was only half an avocado spread on one slice of bread, while the second slice was served plain. For that price, I would expect both slices to be topped. Avocado isn’t that expensive — surely they could’ve used a whole one.

I also got a cinnamon bun, which was dry, overly sweet, and didn’t taste fresh. The sugar was so coarse it actually crunched between my teeth — not in a good way. And this was on a Saturday morning, so it’s not like we came late in the day.

The matcha latte was delicious, and I want to say a big thank you to the staff — they were warm, helpful, and offered us a complimentary pastry when we shared our concerns. But they didn’t remove the dry bacon sandwich from the bill, which was disappointing.

So, great staff and great matcha — but everything else felt overpriced and underwhelming. Won’t be coming back.

Enjoyed my hot chocolate (very chocolatey) & warm garlic mushroom croissant (great combination) in these historic surroundings. Friendly attentive staff who were busy slicing & wrapping the gorgeous looking sourdough (would have bought one if I had room in my bag - travelling home). Pricey but great quality.

I absolutely used to love this place!! But now the café is so cold, apparently the heaters only work on part of the over head heating. Staff weren’t welcoming, food was bought out separately and by the time the second meal came out the other was cold. There’s no metal cutlery only wooden (have you ever tried to cut sourdough bread with a wooden knife? Impossible) No tea pot or cups take away cups only. So if you wanted the aesthetic atmosphere it has before it’s gone. Only good thing about them is TOOGOODTOGO. Do better! You aren’t saving the environment by not washing up only using single use cups and cutlery is worse.

Booked for a Saturday brunch with family.
Exceptional service, we asked for advice as we were vegetarian and had one vegan member.

The smoothies weee of a fantastic quality, we had berry and green smoothies.

The food was prepared fresh, of very hood quality. Nothing was of trouble for the staff smiles all the way.

The setting in the Chubb building is very lovely, authentic.

We really enjoyed our brunch, where the time went while we were there we do not know.

Thank you.

I really like this bakery and cafe – it's become a weekly breakfast spot for me on working days. Their sourdough bread is simply outstanding, and don't even get me started on the carrot cake – it's addictive! The seating is in an open area, creating a cozy atmosphere complemented by overhead heaters. Service is consistently excellent. My only critique would be the limited plug points for charging, especially compared to other cafes.

I have only been to Medicine a handful of times but I have thoroughly enjoyed it every time! I got the sausage brioche which is a really generous sandwich and the saltiness of the bacon is well complimented by the sweeter pepper jam. The bacon is slightly crispy which is great as everything else is soft - important for people like me who enjoy different textures. The sausage patty is huge as you can see in my picture and the fried egg is served runny!

The iced matcha latte was also good - don’t judge me for having it iced 🤣. I don’t like mine too sweet as I still like to taste the matcha so this was great.

The Wolverhampton branch is open which means it can get a bit cold but the staff are lovely and really helpful! A really good option if you’re looking for brunch in Wolverhampton.
