Last year July 2020 I contacted Alan Bordeville initially for bereavement counselling after waiting months for NHS counselling services. I identify as British Black and a woman of a certain age. For a few years now I have been searching for a counsellor where I could talk within a safe space with a therapist who listens to understand and not, just to diagnose, label me, and leave me stuck in the same place I started, with no new insight on my self or tools to deal with my mental health wellbeing moving forward with my life. I am writing this review to say thank you publicly to Alan for creating a safe space for me, that has supported my resoluteness, improved my awareness of what daily tools support me to deal with issues and so that I continue to thrive and show my self compassion care. The greatest thing that I leave his sessions feeling is that it is okay to be me even on a day I feel that is not a 'Good day'. So a year later after all the ups and down of a person identified as critically Extremely vulnerable by the NHS in this Covid 19 pandemic I get up everyday because of his weekly session of work with me.
