This place may have some good people i say may because i haven't experienced the good people. For it to be named as a Mental Health Crisis team, it must be a joke. Im in serious need of help and direction so low that im feeling suicidal, have been picked up by police 3 times in past week been taken to hospital, discharged, taken to custody discharged and again to hospital to be released on the Home Crisis team opposed to being hopsitialised so i had the support of family at home. And first, appointment/assessment been advised i be reffered to mental health team anyhting up to 3 months away for contact! Thank you, now im even worse of a state, lost even more sucidal feelings and back to square 1 after having the rug pulled before my feet. If i can summon the power to get back to A&E i will but currently i dont know if i have the power left in me to battle this anymore. Apointment was today 13/09/24. Whish i had got someone that genuinely cared for people and not just gdoimg it for an interesting job. Disgusting really

Should be shut down. My friend died in their room whilst I was on the ward then too. The psychiatrist is so quick to throw the EUPD label to anyone and everyone in order to discharge them sooner. When questioned about it they simply say you have it and are incapable to issue the 5 of the 9 symptoms required to be diagnosed with it. They want you out whether that’s by misdiagnosing or negligence.

Staff at the Haven facility have no compassion for people with personality disorders. I had staff laughing to each other about me, rolling their eyes when I requested PRN medication, saying I was dead behind the eyes. When I called them out, they gaslit me and said they weren’t talking about me in this way and stuck me on anti-psychotics. They treated me completely differently when I told them I thought I had a personality disorder. My MH deteriorated as a result and I was very glad to be out of the facility. A horrible experience that I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

My wife and I were very impressed with this facility. The staff were competent and caring and looked after a motley crew of challenging and unpredictable 'service users' with intelligence and alacrity. There were slight issues with the arrangement of aftercare facilities but this is not a reflection on the staff and possibly more to do with top-down, money-saving directives from our austerity-driven government.

Worst mental health hospital. Nurses treat patients very badly. The abuse they get is not acceptable behaviour. This place should be closed down for good.

I was on medication that made me feel like I had poison in my body. Did not help with the voices that were telling me to kill myself. I explained I was going to commit suicide unless I was taken off the medication. And I explained it made me feel like I had poison in my body. Doctor just said no I’m not charging your medication. Most patients were allowed to go to the shop after 2 weeks I had to wait 3 months. Also I had to wait 3 months until I was allowed to go to the sports hall to play football. I think the staff and patients and doctor should all go to prison. I hope they all burn in hell they also put me on medication that made me put on nearly 7 stone in weight and they did not warn me that I may put on weight.

Some nice staff but the mental health system needs to change - the world over. Patients are all heavily sedated (Amber Ward) and over medicated; in my opinion, with no opportunity for therapy to actually resolve their issues. Having spent 15 years unwell with my mental health and having been prescribed more medication than my body could function with - I'm very familiar with the mental health system and I only managed to recover after I was given group therapy and was able to talk about my condition - this is something the residents of this ward are never given the opportunity to do.
I've found that staff don't engage with patients enough and when they do, they have a tendency to patronise rather than treating them as though they're humans with a history and a life outside of the hospital. Need more activities to encourage engagement and to help the days pass until their able to go home again.

I'm currently pursuing a complaint through PALS regarding the psychiatrist in charge of this ward who has taken his own personal views to write a factual report for my loved one. There's no sign that the Psychiatrist is interested in the patients in their care and they have been witnessed avoiding the residents when leaving the ward many times - rather than engaging in light conversation or small talk as they pass the patients. This is my main issue with Langley Green Hospital. THIS MIGHT JUST BE PERSONAL EXPERIENCE THOUGH AND NOT INDICATIVE OF THEIR NORMAL BEHAVIOUR TO PATIENTS - just be warned and attend ward reviews with your loved one whenever possible.

Some staff seem reluctant to even get up to unlock the visitor toilets when I've asked for assistance - I'm assuming that they're not being paid to sit around but maybe I'm missing something!

Edited/Addition

Personal effects were stolen from the locked boxes that only staff have access to.

Pursued a complaint through General Medical Counsel and didn't have enough evidence - as my partner apparently wasn't enough to substantiate our issues which were all during/around ward reviews so not sure what more evidence I could ever get as all ward review notes are biased and inaccurate. The notes should be verbatim as my partner's comments about his mental health were excluded, disagreements I had with the Psychiatrist were excluded and the shocking things the psychiatrist were saying to us, and the Mind advocate, were all excluded. The words "you'd do anything to get out of going to prison wouldn't you?" were repeated several times during these reviews, yet nothing documented so no complaint could be proved.
