I was visiting Aberystwyth to see some family who reside there. I booked Gwesty'r as it had excellent reviews and it did not disappoint. On arrival, check in was straight forward as you input the required details in advance via a link. After some confusion of where our room was located (the hotel comprised of 3 separate buildings), we managed to settle it. The room was a nice size and at the back so it was lovely and quiet. It was a little outdated, the carpet had stains on it (which I assume is why they place people who have dogs; in them), and some parts were loose in the bathroom. The bed was very comfy and we both slept soundly with no disturbance whatsoever. The bar was nice, staff was friendly and the beer was a good price. The breakfast was delicious, it was freshly cooked and there was copious amounts of everything to ensure they could cater to all needs. It was a stunning day and the hotel is located on the promenade which provided beautiful views. I'd only say that it was a tad expensive for one night £130.50, £10 each for a breakfast, plus the £15 for the dog, so couldn't have stayed more than one night. Overall, I would recommend and we would stay there again.

A lovely sea front hotel, a truly lovely location. The staff were all excellent and helpful. The outside is being renovated but it did not cause us a problem. 6 of us were able to park our motorcycles securely. We had 3 twin bedded rooms which were very comfortable with an excellent shower.

This was our 6th visit to Aberystwyth and the same hotel, so it must be doing something right! The staff are very friendly and helpful- if anything is not right with the room , they will do their best to sort it out straight away. Cleaners, bar staff, breakfast staff , reception staff are always pleasant and helpful. Sea view rooms are great- compact but comfortable: large beds, good duvets, and provided with all necessities. Some bathrooms even have jacuzzis ! Make sure you ask when booking ( best to phone up and book) what you are getting in the room, what type of bed etc. We always book the deluxe rooms. Our room had a lovely large comfortable bed and bay window. Slight niggle was that the toilet flush was slow, but a plumber was dispatched straight away to sort it. Also the mirror on the dressing table was wobbling whenever a drawer was opened or closed! Apart from this, I could sit there watching the sea and the people all day , it was so comfortable in the room. The cleaning was good, and there was no problem with leaving our belongings behind. |Dinner , which is good quality, is reasonable and is served in the bar area. Make sure you try the cawl, lamb and the desserts . At present there is no lunch, although they used to do it, but there are cafes and shops near by.|Breakfast is served in a beautiful hall which can also be used for weddings and functions. There are gluten free options and fresh fruit, full English , and lovely pastries. |Parking is free, but places are limited so best to enquire in advance, and there is an entrance to the rear of the hotel from the car park so you can get your luggage in easily. |The cost may seem a bit more than other hotels, but as far as I am concerned, this hotel has the best location out of all the hotels on the promenade. |We always look forward to our holidays in Aberystwyth at the Marine Hotel and will be back again this year in August.

My overall experience was very enjoyable. The big bonus is the onsite car park at the rear of the hotel. It is small with enough room for about 10-12 cars with a first come first served policy. I had already checked in online, so on arrival at reception I just gave my name, and was given my room key which took 2 minutes maximum. The single room was adequate for my needs, but the shower was a little small and cramped. The bar was well stocked and one of the pumps was a real ale i.e. Felinfoel double dragon, which was very nice. The restaurant was closed on one of the evenings of my stay, but seeing as the same menu was available in the lounge everything was fine. The bar/lounge area is quite large with plenty of room for all guests. An excellent breakfast was on offer in the morning which set me up for the day. The location of the hotel is about 30 metres from the waters edge and about 5 minutes walk into the town centre, which was perfect. All in all a very pleasant stay.

We had a lovely stay, the staff were really helpful and accommodating ensuring we got the best room with a lovely sea view. Free parking, spa and free breakfast were definitely a highlight for the low cost of the nights stay. Bed was huge and really comfortable to fall asleep in listening to the waves. The spa was unexpected for a seaside guest house, super relaxing with great facilities we were able to enjoy by ourselves after being shown around by the helpful reception staff. Will definitely recommend and stay again!

It's an old hotel but the owners have done their best to make if as comfortable and guest friendly as possible. The staff in particular were especially helpful. Our room (we were upgraded to an "executive suite") was fairly small but it was comfortable, overlooked the promenade and the en suite facilities were perfectly adequate. Off street parking (albeit in a very small car park) was a definite advantage. The help yourself cooked breakfast was very good and overall the hotel represented good value for money (bearing in mind the room upgrade). If I visit Aber again I would definitely stay here again.

Good breakfast but dated hotel, some really nice staff but some who didn’t care or want to interact. Arrival was to a frosty reception. Had a quick meal at the bar, lady was nice and friendly. Food was good. Room and decor was a bit dated but comfortable. Quite noisy with other guests TV’s quite loud, not the hotels fault. Unfortunately there was an issue with the shower as there was no hot water when I showered at 6.30 in the morning so a very cold shower was had. Nobody at reception to inform. Went for an early morning stroll to try to warm up (no heating either). On return, still no staff available to raise my issue. Went back to my room for a cuppa to warm up. When I went down for breakfast, I was able to speak to a lady at reception who wasn’t interested that there was no hot water, she just said ‘yes, I know’ and ignored me. Breakfast was good, great staff in there. Upon check out, same frosty receptionist not acknowledging me. This could be a great hotel with some customer service training.

We managed to get two rooms late in the evening as our original accommodation had issues with the boiler and so no heating. Not good with a small baby and 10 year old. The rooms were perfect as was breakfast. Thank you so much for being so helpful and caring and warming our rooms so that when we arrived they were toasty warm. So grateful to you all. Thanks again. Tracey.
