Completely unresponsive. Four different occasions we called in the morning asking to be seen and each time they told us a doctor would call us back - not once did they call us. We are switching GPs.

I have been here since a child and I will always say they are my most trusted GP. Reception are always polite and understanding, I have never had any problems with efficiency and I feel the doctors here nail it on the head every time with the correct diagnosis.

The most impractical and backward appointment booking method. Basically queue on the phone at 8 AM or 2 PM for an undetermined period and maybe you get an appointment. No such thing as booking in advance, not even for a couple of weeks away.

I dont understand how a medieval approach such as this is still practiced in 2025!

The funny part is that the staff seem quite happy and comfortable with it. Mind-blowing 😵‍💫

Today was the second time I’ve experienced rude behaviour from the same receptionist. While I appreciate it must be a tough job some days, this individual should have the empathy that the post requires. People walking in that door may be going through really difficult times. The doctors and nurses have always been kind and supportive, which I am very grateful for, thank you 🙏

Since writing the above review some time ago, there is now new staff on reception. What a difference, I used to dread going in. The new staff are so helpful, and kind. Thank you 🙏

I have been with Granta Shelford for well over a year now and wanted to add a review as I cannot fault the service they offer. Staff are friendly, courteous and knowledgeable and I’ve always managed to get an appointment without issue. Keep up the good work! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I have found the doctors, nurses and paramedics to be very responsive and thorough. Using the online system or phoning reception I don’t usually experience too much trouble being seen in reasonable time and/or the same day if it warrants it and they provide good care erring on the side of caution. Receptionists are also mostly patient and caring.

The main bottleneck is in getting really good care is 1. Some continuity e.g the concept of the family doctor and 2. Access to other services including preventative such as access to specialists or diagnostics before you get worst but this doesn’t have much to do with the quality of this GP practice and more with delays and lack of resources in the wider health infrastructure

Overall my experience here has been much better than in other practices

I was shocked to see the low reviews on this gp and felt compelled to write my experiences. I have been with Shelford health practice since I was born, so 30 years, and can honestly say I would never want to go somewhere else. I have always been offered a telephone call with a doctor the day of calling with a medical issue, and on many occasions the doctor on the phone has asked to see me that day and booked me an appointment . The doctors, nurses and receptionists have gone above and beyond many times to make sure my medical needs have been addressed in a timely manner even when my issues haven’t been what I would class as an emergency. If my medical issue hasn’t been urgent I have always been able to get an appointment within a 2 weeks period. People complaining they can’t see a doctor within a day or two for non urgent things and moaning that appointments become available at certain times of the day is crazy to me. The NHS is under a lot of stress and I think this surgery has done amazingly implementing a structure that makes sure urgent cases are seen within an amazing time frame such as their rapid access clinic. Anyone else I speak to from other gps waits a hell of a lot longer to be seen, people need to make their expectations more realistic

I have been very pleased with the care I have received recently at Shelford Health Centre. It can take a while to get through on the telephone but the receptionists have been courteous and helpful. Both the nurse and doctor have been thorough and thoughtful. I have felt reassured. Changing the annual review date for long term conditions to the month of your birthday seems a sensible approach.
