I was referred to Clarity Psychology via my employer after experiencing some workplace difficulties. I was seeking assessment for possible Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) which was complicated by the fact that I’m an adult and I’ve experienced childhood trauma. I needed a service that I felt comfortable with and confident in their ability to differentiate between issues caused by childhood trauma vs traits of ASD. From the very first interaction with Tom I immediately felt comfortable. Even simple things like how to get to their office was explained in a detailed yet easy to understand manner. I knew then that if that’s how well they approach something ‘trivial’ I was going to have a positive experience. From referral to getting initial assessment feedback took less than twelve weeks. The process was very thorough and the amount of work that the team (Tom, Patrick and others) put in was amazing. There really was no stone left unturned - in a good way! I was made to feel comfortable from the very beginning of what turned out to be a really positive experience. I can highly recommend Clarity Psychology.

I chose private adult autism assessment after being unable to wait the long time for NHS assessment. Other private autism services I researched seemed to be very basic, often mostly relying on questionnaires and just one telephone assessment with one clinician, and I didn’t feel confident that a clinician could assess accurately with such limited information.
Clarity filled me with confidence from first contact. I felt comfortable and well informed, everything was explained to me, and the assessment was extremely thorough. Dr Tom Laverick handled my assessment which involved several telephone calls, including speaking to my mum and partner, evidence gathering, questionnaires, an in-person assessment including executive functioning, the ADOS-2 assessment which was lead by another clinician, and many exchanged emails. Tom made me feel at ease and didn’t speak down to me (which I have experienced in other services). He was especially knowledgeable about the different presentations of autism in women. The multi-disciplinary approach made me feel confident in my diagnosis, and the whole assessment felt like a collaboration between Clarity and myself.
I would absolutely recommend Clarity to anybody seeking adult autism assessment. The diagnosis I received has helped me understand myself so much better and has completely changed my life, which is entirely down to the support and understanding Clarity gave me. Thank you!
