I am Mags Johnson, secretary for Berwick & District Friends of Dementia. We are a weekly support group for people with a diagnosis of mild to moderate dementia along with their carer. We offer a wide variety of activities both physical and sedentary. In April 2024 we invited Ali Avery to come to the group and guide us through a session of Drumming for Fun and it certainly was, great fun! Fingers, Hands, Wrists, Elbows and Arms were the subject of gentle 'warm up' exercises and then the drumming began. Ali demonstrated a drum rhythm and then it was our turn to 'play' the same rhythm. Many different drum 'patterns' ensued. Ali has an understanding of the difficulties encountered by dementia sufferers and of course their carer, and, as such, she 'tailored' her session accordingly. Our members remarked that they'd thoroughly enjoyed the drumming session and so, in Oct. 2024., we once again invited Ali to come to our Alz Cafe. I can highly recommend these sessions of Drumming for Fun.

Ali came to my Girlguiding group to do a drumming session with my Brownies (ages 7-10) and they loved it! Ali is friendly, prompt with communication and is an accessible activity suitable for all ages! One of my girls had a broken arm so could not use both hands on the drums like everyone else but Ali provided her a drumstick to beat with instead, Ali also provided different sizes of drums the girls could pick freely from. Very much recommend Avery's Angels for any club/group for an activity with a bit of a difference. I will happily invite Ali back to my unit again in the future. - Tawny Owl (Girlguiding Leader)

Ali is a very warm and kind soul.
I wasn’t sure about trying Reiki.
That was 2 years ago. Tried it once and never looked back.
I continue to see Ali every so often.
Can’t explain it. Don’t need to. It works for me.

I’ve been lucky enough to have Ally lead a therapeutic drum session at a few of my Yoga wellness retreats and myself and the participants loved it. Ally is friendly and down to earth and puts people at ease immediately. There is no pressure ‘to be musical’ it’s just about taking part and having fun, even those that were a little unsure at first had great smiles on their faces at the end 🙂

Ali vists our care home ro provide Drumming sessions.Our residents absolutely love it.Ali is tremendous with everyone and residents become really engaged.Many of our residents are living with dementia so the sessions are not just great fun but extremely beneficial for their mental health and cognition .There's always smiles,laughter and singing which is amazing to see.

Drumming with Ali is pure joy, the happiness in the room is infectious. Ali has a fabulous way of knowing what is needed in the session, doing this as a therapy is a fabulous way to release your creative side even if you didn't know you had a creative side!

Ali is an amazing Reiki practioner. I approached her over 7 years ago as a holistic way to help my Endometriosis condition,and other physical amd Mental Health issues. She always very friendly and professional, and always looking to try out any new therapies she has learned over the years. It was the best decision i made and have never looked back. Always feel at ease and relaxed at all points of our sessions and always give each other fabulous feedback at end of sessions also. Highly reccommend Ali. If like myself you have been unsure of trying Reiki, honestly, try it and get taster session with Ali. You won't be dissapointed,nor look back

Another fantastic reiki session with ali. i had the best sleep ever following this session. Ali is a lovely lady who makes you feel completely at home. Would highly recommend. Looking forward to my next session.
