Nice farm shop, cafe and a couple of shops. All on the expensive side, as common with most farm shops. Fruit scone was lovely. Great sausages and ice cream. Nice to see the pigs and goats round the back, and the homegrown rhubarb. Has small children's playground and parking. Would recommend

Lovely cafe with a really nice farm shop on site and a couple of other little shops. This was our third time visiting the cafe. The food is delicious and very good portions. Only little gripe is the cups and saucers, the finger hole is very small and you cannot put your finger actually in it so you then have to pick the cup up with both hands around the rim which can be very hot. Otherwise highly recommend.

What a lovely place this is. Wonderful courtyard to have a coffee and the most amazing farm shop including a real honest to goodness Butchers!!
Beautiful hand made bread. A few nice boutique shops around the courtyard too.

My daughter, grandchildren and I went for breakfast in the cafe this week. The breakfasts are quite expensive but we assumed they would be of good quality.
My daughter thought that the sausage on her youngest son's plate looked a bit pale and found it was pink in the middle.
This was obviously not cooked properly, which I personally feel is unforgiveable.
There is nothing complicated about cooking a pork sausage. However, the most important thing is to ensure that it is cooked thoroughly, as liberties cannot be taken with pork.
When I complained I was told that sometimes the shoulder of the pig is used, which can be a little pink.
No acknowledgement that the sausage was undercooked (basically raw in the centre)
I noted that the bacon on my plate was not cooked properly either, looking flaccid and not actually very hot.
The waitress agreed to replace all the sausages and bacon highlighted, as requested.
The replacements were cooked correctly.
However, this episode ruined our enjoyment of our food, with my other grandson too worried about his meal to eat anything.
When we left the cafe we went to visit the chickens and goats but the area was overgrown and no sign of any animals, other than 2 large pigs. The children's play house looked very unloved.
We will not be returning to Alder Carr Farm.

Lovely farm shop with lots of produce and tasty treats. The quality of the fruit and veg is amazing. The cafe makes a delicious breakfast and the atmosphere is great. It can be on the busy side so make sure to book ahead. They also have a few independent shops on site and gorgeous cut flowers. Well worth the visit!
