I was totally resigned to always feeling all the negative and upsetting emotions that regularly occupied my head after a traumatic event that happened over 20 years ago. The recurring images, sadness, feelings of guilt, being a failure and never being quite good enough. How could it ever be any different for me? It happened, I had to live with it, accept it. But it is different, very different, I can now look back without the all engulfing sadness, like I'm just looking through photos of any other past experience, the deep negative emotions are no longer attached to the memories.
I don't know how emdr works but it feels like magic, I wish I'd found this healing years ago. I am finding it doesn't stop there either, my feelings of self worth and being 'good enough' are growing, I'm far less reactive when faced with what would have been 'triggers'.
I'm so grateful to Helen, she made me feel listened to and supported from the offset, and I felt in very safe hands. Helen is knowledgeable and professional, she made it easy for me to offload all that was in my head (that in itself was a release) and gave me confidence that if anyone can help me, she can, and she has.
