Emma was recommended to me a few years ago by a health professional who was working with my family. I kept hold of her details because I know how hard it can be to find the right therapist when you really need them. I'm very glad I was wise enough to do so.
Following a traumatic event last year, I found myself in crisis - suffering panic attacks in addition to the anxiety and bouts of low mood that have dogged my adult life. Within just a few sessions I felt stable enough to return to activities that help to keep me well. I was also able to begin to prepare for, and carry out the necessary processing of the trauma through EMDR, allowing me to revisit painful memories without their engulfing or overwhelming me.
All throughout my 4 months of sessions with Emma she provided a safe and very secure environment for me to tackle not only recent traumas, but longer held negative and painful memories too. I have a far better understanding of where I find myself now, and how vital it is for me find balance in what I give, and take, and receive. I have overcome the panic, processed traumas, and returned to life on a better footing than I have ever been.
I cannot thank you enough Emma, for your warmth and intelligent, gentle care throughout it all.

I approached Emma for therapy on a personal recommendation, which was important to me having not had therapy before. I had been struggling for some time and my GP had suggested I seek professional help over anti depressants. I instantly warmed to Emma during our initial telephone consultation and felt extremely comfortable discussing a range of personal subjects. All our sessions were conducted via zoom (my choice) and after a few minutes into each one, I forgot we were communicating through a screen. With Emma’s guidance, not only did I achieve my goals but I gained more than that - a deeper understanding of myself and a greater respect for the behaviour of others. Emma has massively helped me become more assertive and I feel I can build on this more independently. Such a freeing and empowering feeling. Thank you so much Emma.

Emma is just amazing!
From our first session together she made me feel so comfortable, like I was talking to a friend. She’s helped me over come so much and taught me how to deal with situations I may face. I had 18 sessions in total with Emma, it’s made a massive difference to my life and I would recommend anyone to see her. I was at my lowest when I met Emma and I can now face life again, I will be forever grateful.

I was helped more than I imagined by Emma. Her calm and professional demeanour along with her obvious expertise in multiple psychological therapies gave me confidence from the beginning. She managed the process and my experience with a light but clear touch and brought my therapy to end in a thoughtful and empathetic way leaving me feeling I was ready to stand on my own two feet again, but also that the door was open if I needed further help.

I was nervous about beginning sessions, especially during the covid restrictions, I was unsure of how they would work online. However, my nerves and uncertainty were quickly eased as Dr Stevens created a calm, and comfortable environment which enabled me to explore my history in a productive way and make significant changes in my outlook on life.
Dr Stevens was supportive, kind and was able to connect with me during our sessions in a very approachable way, I felt at ease with her.
I can only wish I had done this years ago, it truly has been life changing.
